minimum age

The 1500m and 3800m are restricted to competitors who are 16 at the date of the event. 

If you are under 16 and would like to participate in the 3800m or 1500m Swim Event, please contact the event organiser at swimrua2023@gmail.com requesting a dispensation to the age limit. Please include details of your prior cold water and distance swimming events and a recommendation on swimming ability provided by a recognised swimming coach.

No entries will be accepted after entries close at midnight 11 March 2026.

Cancellations and refunds:

The Meridian Swim Ruataniwha operates as a not-for-profit community event. Any surplus funds from the event are invested in the Twizel Community. In the event that an entrant is unable to participate, no refund will be provided. Consider your entry fee as a contribution to water-based activities and water safety in the Twizel community.

In the unlikely event that the Meridian Swim Ruataniwha event is unable to proceed for all participants, refunds will be provided less a $10.00 handling fee.
